Now, especially amid the stressful time of the COVID-19 crisis, taking care of our health can be, literally, a matter of life and death. And though, fortunately, most of us are not going to be exposed to the coronavirus, or carry it, or (thank God) get sick from it – most, if not all of us, are facing the stress of what it’s doing to the country, and to our own lives. In other words, if the bug itself doesn’t make you sick, or kill you, the stress from it could.
Thus, if we ever needed CREATION LIFE principles before, we need them even more now.
One thing that we know is this: attitude impacts health. Or, to put it another way, our mind impacts our body, and our body our mind. Makes sense; after all, they are connected. Your brain, yes, is part of your body and if you are worried, fearful, stressful, the rest of you will be affected as well.
This is where CREATION LIFE can help. One of the key components is OUTLOOK. As much as possible, seek a positive attitude. Of course, it is not always easy but to the degree that you can, be as positive as you can.
We all have things that we are thankful for. If we ever needed to focus on those things, now is the time. Some wise words were written many years ago: “whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.”
But along with OUTLOOK, there is ACTIVITY. Exercise is not only good for us, it makes us feel better. Who hasn’t experienced how even a nice brisk walk, especially if the sun is shining and the air is fresh, can lift your spirits? If your physician okays it, daily exercise – even for just 30 minutes, that gets you into a light sweat and your heart rate up – can do a lot to relieve stress.
And, finally, food, NUTRITION. Food affects mood. Sugar buzzes and caffeine buzzes only last so long, and then there’s the come down, which can be a real bummer (especially if you’re stressed and worried to begin with). Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains should be the bulk of what you eat. A good diet will make a difference.
COVID-19 has stressed us all. But here’s where CREATION Life can help you, not only in avoiding the bug itself, but in enduring the stress of living with it in our faces, in the news, and radically impacting our lives.
