Feeling whole is an essential aspect of our well-being and happiness. It means feeling complete within ourselves and experiencing contentment and fulfillment in all aspects of life, including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. When we feel whole, we have a sense of balance and harmony within ourselves and in our relationships, which can lead to a greater sense of purpose and meaning in life and a stronger ability to cope with challenges and difficulties. Ultimately, feeling whole involves a deep sense of connection to ourselves and to the world around us, resulting in a sense of peace and well-being.
“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height — to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” – Ephesians 3:14-19
God desires for all people to experience wholeness in all aspects of their lives. In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word “shalom” is often used to refer to a sense of peace, prosperity and well-being. This concept encompasses not only our physical well-being, but our emotional and spiritual well-being as well. It can be understood as a state of feeling whole or complete, with all aspects of our lives in harmony. Some of us, however, feel so broken or hurt that we cannot imagine experiencing a life of wholeness.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” – 1 Peter 1:3
In the New Testament (John 4:1-42), Jesus encounters a woman who has had several marriages and is living with a man who is not her husband. Despite her circumstances, Jesus treats her with dignity and respect. He offers her living water that brings eternal life and satisfies her deepest thirst, leading to a sense of acceptance and healing. The woman becomes a messenger of the good news of Jesus to her community, demonstrating how God desires for people to experience wholeness and healing in all areas of their lives. This story illustrates how Jesus offers spiritual transformation and new life to all people, regardless of their circumstances.
“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” – Colossians 2:9-10
We can experience wholeness through a relationship with Christ, regardless of our past. Through faith in Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can find healing, forgiveness and a new sense of purpose and meaning in life. This transformation brings a sense of peace, joy and contentment, helping us to feel whole and complete. In Christ, we find hope for the future and the strength to overcome challenges. A trusting relationship with Jesus allows us to experience true wholeness in every aspect of our lives.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13
