It was a busy day at the Waffle House in La Marque, Texas, when 78-year-old Adrian Charpentier went in for breakfast. After his plate arrived, he chatted briefly with the waitress, mentioning that he was having pain in his hands.  Without hesitation, the 18-year-old server, Evoni Williams reached over and started cutting up Adrian’s food for him.

Another customer noticed the small act of kindness, snapped a photo, and posted it on social media. Within hours, the post had gone viral. People were so inspired by the teenager’s kindness that they wanted to show her some kindness in return. A local university offered her a scholarship; a dream come true, considering she was saving for college. And the mayor of La Marque issued an official proclamation that March 8 would always be Evoni Williams Day in their city.
