In 2008, the world was shaken by a global financial crisis resulting from risky investments and dishonest practices by banks and financial institutions. Many lost their jobs, homes and life savings. Their trust in the financial system was shattered. Families and friends who had once relied on these institutions for their security suddenly found themselves uncertain and doubtful.

As the crisis unfolded, it became clear that a lack of transparency and accountability within the financial system had allowed such devastating consequences to occur. Governments around the world responded to the crisis by bailing out financial institutions deemed “too big to fail.” Despite the massive cash injections to keep these institutions afloat, the damage to people’s trust in the financial system was deep and lasting. As the years passed, the term “too big to fail” became a haunting reminder that human institutions could still falter despite their size and power.

More than a decade later, we are beginning to witness signs of the financial system straining and faltering once again. The cracks in the foundation are becoming more apparent, and people’s trust is being tested anew. In these times of uncertainty, it is crucial to remember that while human institutions may waver, God’s love will never fail.

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor My covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” – Isaiah 54:10

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT

God is trustworthy in all circumstances. On the Cross of Calvary, Christ demonstrated that He would rather cease to exist than continue living without us. When our trust in the world around us falters, the resurrection reminds us that we can always rely on God’s love and faithfulness. Our trust in God provides a solid foundation to withstand life’s challenges because, unlike fragile human institutions, God really is too big to fail.

MY PRAYER

Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and the trustworthiness His resurrection reveals. Help us remember that even when we face major challenges and crises, we can rely on Your unfailing love and faithfulness to rescue us. Strengthen our trust in You and guide us to share Your love and trustworthiness with those around us. Amen.
